How to: Install your Bold Connect

Installing your Bold Connect only takes a few minutes and enables remote access to your Bold smart locks. Once connected to Wi-Fi, you can manage your locks remotely, share digital access from anywhere, and monitor all lock activity in real time - including Bold Clicker use, app unlocks, and other entry events.

This guide explains how to install Bold Connect, how to connect it to Wi-Fi, and what to do if your Bold Connect is not connecting.

What is Bold Connect?

Bold Connect is a Wi-Fi bridge that connects your Bold smart lock to the internet.

Without a Bold Connect, your lock communicates with your phone via Bluetooth when you're nearby. With Bold Connect installed, your lock can also be reached remotely through the internet, allowing you to:

  • Control your lock remotely
  • Manage access from anywhere
  • Use remote features in the Bold app
  • Manage digital keys more easily

Before you begin, make sure:

✔ Your Bold smart lock is already installed

✔ Bluetooth is enabled on your phone

✔ Your phone is connected to Wi-Fi

✔ You have a power socket available near your lock

Installing the Bold Connect in 4 steps

Mount the Bold Connect

Place the Bold Connect within Wi-Fi range and close enough to your Bold smart lock. Mount it using the supplied screws or adhesive tape, and make sure there's a power outlet nearby.

Power up the Connect

Plug the USB-C cable into the Bold Connect and connect the adapter to a power outlet. The LED will flash red once and you'll hear a short beep, indicating the device is powered on.

Activate pairing mode

Press and hold the button on the Bold Connect for 5 seconds until the LED ring turns red. This puts the device into pairing mode so it can be found by the Bold app.

Complete the setup in the Bold app

Open the Bold app on your phone. Tap the red indicator in the menu, select Install Connect, and follow the on-screen instructions.

That's it!

Your Bold Connect is now connected to Wi-Fi and linked to your nearby Bold smart locks. You can now manage your locks remotely from anywhere.

Bold Connect not connected?

If your Bold Connect isn't connecting, check the following:

  • Make sure your phone is connected to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network if your router separates 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks.
  • Verify that Bluetooth is enabled during installation.
  • Place the Bold Connect closer to your smart lock if they're too far apart.
  • Ensure the Connect is within range of your Wi-Fi router.
  • Restart the installation process by putting the Connect back into pairing mode.
  • Update the Bold app to the latest version.

Once installed, your Bold Connect links your Bold smart lock to the internet, making remote access and digital key management even easier. Installation only takes a few minutes, and after setup your lock is ready to take advantage of all supported remote features.

Frequently asked questions

The Bold Connect automatically detects all nearby Bold smart locks, no setup required. If your lock doesn’t appear in the app, the signal might be too weak or the distance too large. Try moving the Bold Connect closer to your lock and check the signal strength in the Bold app under 'Connected Locks'.
